Chelsea puts up another plan for Nottingham Forest defender – report

Chelsea are currently linked with another transfer to sign a Brazilian defender before the window closes.

And Enzo Maresca initially hinted that he would prefer another center back to pair up with the remnant after Thaigo Silva departed, with Murillo mentioned as a possible prospect.

Murillo joined Forest last summer from the Brazilian side Corinthians on a £15 million deal and has recently impressed. He’s been recognized as one of the best performers who helped Forest escape relegation last season.

The 24-year-old has been tipped for a possible move by many clubs, putting Chelsea in a race to draw conclusions about the deal before it’s too late.

But it appeared that Enzo Maresca had already made a deal with Argentina center-back Aaron Anselmino, and signing the two players at once will give the Blues more options to choose from next season.

Nottingham Forest valued their defender for £50 million, but Enzo Maresca, as reported, is unwilling to give in to such a deal; rather, he prefers a lowering of the asking price or putting out two players for the deal.

Atletico Madrid is also interested in signing Murillo from Forest, and it also seems Chelsea is a forerunner in the deal.

Murillo indicated interest in playing for the West Londoners, and Chelsea will undoubtedly make way to sign him before the window closes.

Speaking last week on the Brazilian show Os Donos da Bola, Murillo indicated that he is open to leaving Forest after just one season.

‘I’ve received a few offers. Some officials, others sounding out,’ Murillo said.

‘I’ll take it up with my agent. They were clubs from England, Italy, and Germany.

‘If I stay in Nottingham, I’ll do my best. If I leave, I hope they respect my decision. I’m calm and analyzing it in the best way.’

Though the club is still uncertain about making significant deals that will trigger much funding, they are remaining watchful to avoid deals that may lead them to relegation.
