Chelsea have submitted an offer to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City despite his agreement with Brighton.
Reports revealed on Thursday that Chelsea had contacted Leicester to express an interest in recruiting the 25-year-old midfielder, although a bid had yet to be made.
But the west London side have now sent a proposal for the Englishman to their newly-promoted Premier League counterparts.
According to reports, the blues are plotting a player-plus-cash bid for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as the Blues attempt to hijack the Leicester midfielder’s move to Brighton.
Brighton had already agreed a deal with Leicester that would see the Seagulls part with £25m plus Jakub Moder for Dewsbury-Hall, who scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign in 2023-24
A medical had been booked for Dewsbury-Hall at the Amex Stadium, though Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the interest from Chelsea is set to lead to the deal to collapse.
If an agreement is reached between the two clubs, Chelsea would be expected to agree a long-term contract with Dewsbury-Hall’s representatives.
Leicester have reluctantly accepted the sale of Dewsbury-Hall due to the club’s Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR) concerns, though Chelsea’s own need to remain compliant with the regulations means the Blues will look to be creative in a deal.
Dewsbury-Hall is regarded an ideal fit for the style of football Chelsea want to play under new head coach Enzo Maresca, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.
