Enzo Maresca makes a fresh plan to bolster his defense with a 19-year-old wounderkid tipped as the next Thaigo Silva.

Chelsea have reportedly been watching South American graduates to bolster their defensive solidity after losing Thaigo Silva and Trevor Chaobah at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have urged the Argentine junior club to lower the asking price of the 19-year-old, and talks have been held on a potential transfer.

The Blues have increasingly tapped into the South American market under the new ownership and have already signed Estevao Willian, Andrey Santos, Kendry Paez, Angelo Gabriel, and David Washington from the continent.

Now they are up to securing the services of Aaron Anselmino to maintain their defense next season.

But reports have claimed that Chelsea are already on the brink of breaking the FFP rule, and they are still willing to make further signings, signifying that they will make more sales to add up funds for the transfer.

Chelsea are keen on his services and are trying to jump ahead of any competition for Anselmino, but Simon Johnson has reported in The Athletic that there’s one sticking point with the deal.

He wrote:

“Boca Juniors are prepared to sell defender Aaron Anselmino for around £20 million. Chelsea are in talks, but over a lower sum.”

Quite what the plan for Anselmino would be is unclear, and given the defensive options the club have, it seems very unlikely he would go into the first-team squad, with a loan to Strasbourg being the obvious move if the Blues do complete a deal.

Chelsea have already signed one center back this summer, with Tosin Adarabioyo arriving on a free transfer from neighboring Fulham, but fans will want to see more signings for the first team rather than signi

ngs for the future.
