"Chelsea adding such amazing player to their squad simply means they have the best squad in the Premier League now...I'm an Arsenal fan but the truth must be told": Premier League legend lauds ONE Chelsea's summer signing as he back the Blues to turn around and win the title this season.

While some may argue that the transfer window has lost some of its unpredictability, few of a Chelsea persuasion would go along with that sentiment.

As their Premier League rivals go about their business methodically, the Blues have thrown caution to the wind to get their signings through the door. Whether that be through big fees or left-field approaches, Enzo Maresca has overseen plenty of change this summer.

However, their craziest and most unexpected deal could still be to come as they try and get rid of their unwanted winger Raheem Sterling. Maresca has made it clear the forward will not be in his plans and it is understood he has been banished to train with the U21s after losing his shirt number to Pedro Neto.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United are ready to relieve Maresca of his Sterling burden if they agree to bring Jadon Sancho on board. Like Sterling, Sancho also has a frosty relationship with his manager having been banished last year for classifying himself as a 'scapegoat' on social media.

Juventus are keen on Sancho but the Blues see the Englishman as a prime target to bolster their attack further. As such, United are believed to be negotiating from a position of power and will not pay any outlay to sign Sterling.

From Chelsea's perspective, this is far from ideal but perhaps this is the price you must pay when your manager publicly expresses why he does not see a player in his plans. To make the best of a bad situation, the Blues will hope they can sway Sancho to move to Stamford Bridge ahead of Juve.

Fortunately, within their ranks, they have a secret weapon - Joe Shields. Chelsea's current director of football and scout was the person who managed to identify Sancho as a prospect when he was in his youth days at Watford.

Shields masterminded the £66,000 transfer for the winger which ended up making Manchester City a pretty sum when Sancho eventually left to join Borussia Dortmund. His influence has also been used previously too at Stamford Bridge.

Before moving to Chelsea, he was chief scout at Southampton where he identified Romeo Lavia. The central midfielder would follow Shields to the capital when Shields made the switch and it is clear he holds an invaluable relationship with the players he identifies.

Sancho is a player clearly in need of a place to call home with his relationship at United held together by a thread. Deploying Shields into the transfer process could help persuade the 24-year-old to remain in the Premier League.
