Chelsea are weighing up making an offer for Manchester United misfit Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes.

It has been another tumultuous summer of upheaval at Stamford Bridge with Enzo Maresca having replaced Mauricio Pochettinio in the dugout, prior to another flurry of new signings.

A new-look side gave an indication of what they might be capable of under their latest new manager on Sunday with a devastating performance in a 6-2 win over Wolves.

Yet, despite a first Premier League hat-trick for Noni Madueke, Chelsea could yet add another winger to their ranks before the window slams shut.

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford, meanwhile, is again the subject of speculation after he was left out of the matchday squad prior to Saturday’s squad defeat at Brighton.

Having fallen out with Erik ten Hag last year in a row that culminated in a successful loan move to Borussia Dortmund, Sancho was welcomed back into the fold over the summer after he belatedly apologised for his conduct.

With Amad Diallo having been promoted ahead of him, Sancho appears surplus to requirements again and Chelsea, according to Gianluca Di Marzio are contemplating making their move.

In an attempt to entice United into parting with Sancho, the Blues are willing to offer one of two players in a potential swap deal.

England international’s Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling have both, effectively, they are not part of Maresca’s plans and could potentially fill holes in United’s squad.

Luke Shaw’s injury has again left United short in the left-back position, while Sancho’s exit would leave Ten Hag relying on Diallo, fellow youngster Alejandro Garnacho and the out of sorts Marcus Rashford in wide areas.

With Sterling having already been cast adrift, Maresca also seems willing to operate without another of his misfiring wingers Mykhailo Mudryk who was hauled off at half-time at Molineux.

‘Because I was not happy,’ Maresca said bluntly when asked why Mudryk was hooked at the interval.

‘I think in some moments we can manage some situations better. He was working very hard off the ball and that was very good. But in terms of on the ball, I expect a bit more quality from Misha.

For me, he had some good moments the other day and some good moments today and the reason why was just because we needed to change and give Pedro [Neto] some minutes.’
