Chelsea are interested in signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.

The Bees frontman looks set to leave Thomas Frank's team with his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium expiring next year. It would make little financial sense for the West London club to hold onto their prized asset for another campaign and risk losing him for nothing in 2025.

But Toney is not the only striker being linked with a move to the Blues before Friday's transfer deadline. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has looked likely to leave Napoli all summer.

The Nigerian is not part of Antonio Conte's plans as the Serie A side, like Brentford, look to cash in on their star striker. It's an interesting scenario for Chelsea with both forwards likely to score plenty of goals for a top Premier League side.

One factor may separate both players though. Osimhen has been at a club challenging for major trophies since arriving in Naples from Lille in September 2020.

During his time at Napoli, the 25-year-old fired the Italian club to their first Serie A title in 33 years. It's a trophy which has made Osimhen a legend in Naples with his 26 league goals playing a key role in their victory.

However, last season saw a drop-off with 15 league goals. It's a warning sign that the striker may have reached his peak after one of the greatest seasons of his career. Toney meanwhile will have plenty of hunger for success with the 2016 EFL trophy the only silverware of his career.

It's why along with his Premier League experience, Toney is a much more appealing option for Chelsea. A motivated striker who is hungry to win major trophies could have a huge impact on a squad who miss a consistent goalscorer.

Toney's 72 goals in 141 appearances for Brentford demonstrate that he is ready to step up for a club looking to win major trophies. His impact on Enzo Maresca's team could be transformative.
